Scottish Government Architecture Policy and A&DS Review: Next Steps Roundtable
Background
In March 2024, the RIAS hosted three roundtable conversations with the Scottish Government (SG) to help inform a review of architecture policy delivery, including the role of Architecture and Design Scotland (A&DS).
The outcomes of this review include recommending refocussing of resources towards the Scottish architecture sector’s development, evolving A&DS as a centre of excellence and establishing strategic partnerships with a wide range of design and creative industry interests. This plan will involve collaborative working with the RIAS, Scottish architecture studios and RIAS members.
Roundtable Details
We are therefore, pleased to host a further series of events to present feedback from the SG and A&DS on the review outcomes and have a discussion on priorities and delivery.
SG and A&DS are keen to hear your views on how the emerging recommendations are implemented, especially effective collaboration to support the growth and health of Scottish architecture and the nation’s design sector.
You are invited to join us at one of the following events to share your views:
Event 1: Friday 28th February 10:00 – 12:00, Online Roundtable
For practices unable to travel to Edinburgh or Glasgow
Event 2: Wednesday 5th March 10:00 – 12:30, In Person Edinburgh Roundtable Edinburgh

To promote a candid conversation on these topics the sessions will be held under Chatham House Rules.
Please note places are limited to sixteen architects from a range of practices* at each event, who will join the Chief Architect, ADS Chief Executive, and RIAS Chief Executive.
*To capture a diverse range of voices we ask for no more than two representatives from larger practices to sign-up initially.
A networking lunch will be provided at the in-person events, please advise if you have any specific dietary requirements.
